The Orange Box: Half-Life 2, Episode One + Two + Portal

The Orange Box is a collection of games developed and published by Valve Corporation that contains five games: Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Episode One, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress 2. A version for Windows was released 10 October 2007, both in retail boxed version and for download via Steam service. The Xbox 360 version was released on October 10, 2007. The PlayStation 3 version was released on November 23, 2007 in Europe and December 11, 2007 in the United States. It was originally planned to release The Black Box, an inexpensive compilation containing only new materials, but it was ultimately canceled.

This is the first Xbox 360 game with 99 achievements exceeding the 50 achievement limit supported by Microsoft (up to 60 via downloadable content) and also adds up to 1000 points (typical maximum for the Xbox 360). Achievements mainly focus on Half-Life 2, but they are also available for all five games.

As of November 2008, The Orange Box sold more than 3 million copies, and today this number is much higher [1].

Steam users who purchase Half-Life 2 or Half-Life 2: Episode One, and then buy The Orange Box, can give these games to friends, even those who do not have a Steam account [2].

After the release of The Orange Box, PC users were free to download Peggle Extreme, a cut out version of the Peggle Deluxe puzzle featuring art from the Orange Box. You could also download the game Half-Life 2: Lost Coast. This brought the number of games in the release to 7.

The collection received many positive reviews. IGN praised the game for its incredible value and excellent gameplay.
